POSITION OVERVIEW
THE TERRAFORMING OPERATIONS DIVISION IS SEEKING AN EXPERIENCED ATMOSPHERIC PROCESSOR TECHNICIAN FOR ASSIGNMENT TO THE HADLEY'S HOPE COLONY ON LV-426 (ACHERON). THE ATMOSPHERIC PROCESSING STATION IS THE SINGLE MOST CRITICAL PIECE OF INFRASTRUCTURE ON ANY TERRAFORMING COLONY — A FUSION-POWERED INDUSTRIAL PLANT THAT STRIPS TOXIC ELEMENTS FROM THE NATIVE ATMOSPHERE AND REPLACES THEM WITH A BREATHABLE NITROGEN-OXYGEN MIX. WITHOUT CONTINUOUS OPERATION OF THIS FACILITY, THE COLONY CANNOT SUSTAIN HUMAN HABITATION. THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL JOIN A TEAM OF 12 TECHNICIANS RESPONSIBLE FOR ROUND-THE-CLOCK OPERATION OF THE LV-426 PRIMARY PROCESSOR.
LV-426 IS CLASSIFIED AS A HAZARDOUS ENVIRONMENT ASSIGNMENT. THE SURFACE CONDITIONS ARE SEVERE: CONSTANT WIND SPEEDS EXCEEDING 120 KPH, TEMPERATURES RANGING FROM -40 TO -80 DEGREES CELSIUS, AND AN ATMOSPHERE THAT IS IMMEDIATELY FATAL WITHOUT SEALED ENVIRONMENTAL SUITS. THE ATMOSPHERIC PROCESSOR ITSELF IS A MASSIVE INDUSTRIAL FACILITY OPERATING AT EXTREME TEMPERATURES AND PRESSURES, WITH A FUSION REACTOR CORE THAT REQUIRES CAREFUL MONITORING AND MAINTENANCE. CANDIDATES MUST BE PHYSICALLY AND PSYCHOLOGICALLY PREPARED FOR A MINIMUM 26-MONTH ROTATION IN AN ISOLATED FRONTIER COLONY WITH LIMITED COMMUNICATION AND RESUPPLY WINDOWS.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- OPERATE AND MONITOR THE PRIMARY ATMOSPHERIC PROCESSING UNIT INCLUDING INTAKE FILTRATION, CHEMICAL SEPARATION STAGES, GAS SYNTHESIS CHAMBERS, AND EXHAUST MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
- MAINTAIN AND SERVICE THE FUSION REACTOR INTERFACE — MANAGING POWER OUTPUT, COOLANT FLOW RATES, AND CONTAINMENT FIELD INTEGRITY FOR THE PROCESSOR'S PRIMARY ENERGY SOURCE
- CONDUCT ATMOSPHERIC SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS AT DESIGNATED MONITORING STATIONS ACROSS THE COLONY PERIMETER TO VERIFY CONVERSION RATES AND AIR QUALITY METRICS
- PERFORM PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE ON INDUSTRIAL SCRUBBER SYSTEMS, CATALYTIC CONVERTERS, AND HIGH-PRESSURE PUMPING STATIONS ON A 90-DAY CYCLE
- RESPOND TO EMERGENCY SHUTDOWNS AND SYSTEM FAILURES — DIAGNOSING ROOT CAUSE, EXECUTING SAFE RESTART PROCEDURES, AND DOCUMENTING INCIDENTS PER CORPORATE SAFETY PROTOCOL
- MANAGE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS INCLUDING RADIOACTIVE BYPRODUCTS, TOXIC CHEMICAL INTERMEDIATES, AND HIGH-PRESSURE CRYOGENIC FLUIDS
- COORDINATE WITH COLONY OPERATIONS ON ATMOSPHERIC QUALITY REPORTING AND HABITAT PRESSURIZATION REQUIREMENTS
- PERFORM EXTERNAL MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS IN FULL ENVIRONMENTAL SUITS UNDER EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS — MINIMUM 4 EXTERIOR SHIFTS PER MONTH
REQUIREMENTS
- BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING, ATMOSPHERIC SCIENCE, OR CLOSELY RELATED FIELD (MANDATORY)
- MINIMUM 5 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN INDUSTRIAL PROCESSING — PETROCHEMICAL, ATMOSPHERIC, OR NUCLEAR FACILITY OPERATIONS ACCEPTED
- FUSION REACTOR OPERATIONS CERTIFICATION (FROC) OR EQUIVALENT — CANDIDATES WITHOUT FROC MUST COMPLETE 8-WEEK CERTIFICATION PRIOR TO DEPLOYMENT
- HAZARDOUS ATMOSPHERE TRAINING (HAT) CERTIFICATION INCLUDING SEALED-SUIT OPERATIONS, EMERGENCY EGRESS, AND DECONTAMINATION PROCEDURES
- DEMONSTRATED PROFICIENCY IN INDUSTRIAL CONTROL SYSTEMS, SCADA PLATFORMS, AND PROCESS AUTOMATION
- COMPREHENSIVE MEDICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL CLEARANCE FOR FRONTIER HAZARDOUS ENVIRONMENT ASSIGNMENT — INCLUDING RADIATION EXPOSURE BASELINE
- EXPERIENCE WITH HIGH-PRESSURE SYSTEMS, INDUSTRIAL PIPING, AND HEAVY MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE
